It is clearly evident that the U of M football team is much improved from last year. The talent is basically the same, which was good, however, Harbaugh’s coaching is obviously the difference maker. It looks like Harbaugh has instilled some toughness back in the program reminiscent of the days of Bo Schembechler. They run the ball effectively and play good defense. Three straight shutouts are very impressive. So I give credit where credit is due. On the other hand, I was not impressed with Northwestern at all. They were a beaten team after Michigan returned the opening kickoff to the house. They showed no guts; no backbone.
I’m really looking forward to the game next week with MSU. It’s shaping up to be a good one. Michigan has plenty of motivation coming into the game since MSU has pretty much dominated the series in recent years (winning 6 of the last 7 games). In addition, Coach Mark Dantonio marks the Michigan game every year as the big game. He has done this since he took over as coach of the program. Mike Hart’s “little brother” comment in 2007 just added fuel to the fire. This added a chip on the shoulder for MSU to further motivate the Spartans. This should be a great game!
