Spartans win the Big Ten Tournament with a 66-62 win over Purdue on Sunday in Indianapolis. It was the fifth tournament championship for a Tom Izzo coached team.

However, winning the tournament didn’t garner much respect from the NCAA Selection Committee as the Spartans were selected as a number 2 seed instead of the number 1 seed which many thought was a done deal prior to the championship game. I think the selection of North Carolina, Kansas, Oregon as one seeds were legitimate, but Virginia over MSU as a number one that many observers question. It seems the Big Ten as a whole didn’t get much respect as Indiana, the regular season champion, along with Maryland were all selected as five seeds and Iowa selected as a seven seed.
