Michigan State quarterback Damion Terry got his first start Saturday against Penn State and was impressive. He brings a running dimension to the position that Tyler O’Connor could not and it has been unfortunate that he was never given an opportunity to be given the keys to the offense and start a game. The unfortunate part of this is the fact that he has been injured to some degree his entire career at MSU. Some fans may wonder if he has what in boxing terms a “glass jaw”. Can he stay healthy enough to make it an entire season.
Well, the 2017 season starts now for the Spartans and the quarterback position will be up for grabs with Terry, Brian Lewerke, Messiah deWeaver and incoming freshman Rocky Lombardi. It seems that Lewerke would be the choice based on his play this season before he got hurt and was lost for the season.
